Caltech Postdoctoral Scholars program at JPL
The California Institute of Technology (Caltech) at the Jet Propulsion laboratory (JPL) is inviting applications for a research position in the area of advanced thermoelectric materials and devices. The position will involve the synthesis, characterization, and transport property measurements of advanced thermoelectric materials. In addition, the candidate will actively participate in the development of new thermoelectric unicouples incorporating some advanced materials for application to future deep space missions.
Applicants should have a recent Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or similar discipline. Experience with synthesis and characterization of bulk materials is a strong advantage. An understanding of transport properties including thermal conductivity and electrical conductivity in semiconductors and semi-metals is desired. The appointment is initially for a one-year period and may be renewed in one-year increment for a maximum of two additional years. The annual starting salary for a recent doctorate is approximately $42,000 and can vary somewhat depending on the applicant’s qualifications. Physics of Universidad Nacional de Colombia. I have studied the transport
mechanisms in sevaral materials (superconductors, semiconductors), at the
present time I am reseaching the thermoelectrical properties of several perovskites. I have experience (8 years) in measurement and interpretation of
electrical and thermal conductivity and thermoelectric power.
